Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital grew out of the Canton Ophthalmic Infirmary founded by the missionary physician Peter Parker in 1835 — the first Western-medicine hospital in China, where Sun Yat-sen himself studied and practiced medicine. It holds the Fudan A+ tier.
